A retired engineer lost his entire life savings after falling for a crypto scam run by a fraudster posing as an online “professor.” The victim was lured through social media with promises of expert-guided investments and steady returns. After gaining trust through frequent calls and tutorials, the scammer convinced him to transfer increasing amounts of money into what turned out to be fake trading accounts. By the time he realised the deception, the funds had been siphoned off through multiple crypto wallets, leaving no recovery path. Authorities have urged caution as similar impersonation scams are rising globally.
