An elderly Ohio brother and sister lost over $1 million in a cryptocurrency investment scam, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio. The fraud began in late 2024 when the male victim was contacted via text, later persuaded to communicate on Telegram with “Shaw Goddess.” Following instructions, he and his sister invested heavily through Crypto.com and Strike.com, sending funds to a fake platform. Withdrawal attempts failed, with the sister told to pay a 10% tax. Investigators traced $325,060 USDT on the Tron blockchain, froze it, and filed a civil forfeiture complaint on August 27, 2025.
