Octopus Energy Group has secured around $1 billion by selling a minority stake in Kraken Technologies, its AI-driven energy software arm, in a deal led by D1 Capital Partners with Fidelity and other investors. The transaction values Kraken at about $8.6 billion and supports plans to spin it out as an independent company by mid-2026. Kraken’s platform manages energy accounts globally, and the funding is expected to accelerate expansion and prepare the business for a potential future IPO.
