The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control has issued a warning that cryptocurrency-related scams are rising across the state, with investigators seeing an uptick in reports of fraud that often results in significant financial losses. The scams frequently target older adults but can affect people of all ages, and victims have lost substantial sums. Police say scammers use social media, texts, emails, phone calls and dating sites to contact potential victims. Authorities urge Missourians to be cautious, watch for red flags, and report suspicious contacts to law enforcement.
