Scammers posed as MrBeast, Mark Rober, and other celebrities via a WhatsApp group, luring Bergman with an “exclusive Coinbase token” offered to million-dollar donors. Pressured by social proof and urgency, he invested $500,000, then added $750,000. Suspicion grew when U.S. influencers contacted him from UK numbers. A direct call to the real MrBeast confirmed the fraud. Bergman shared his ordeal publicly, stressing openness over secrecy. Experts call this a classic manipulation scam exploiting charity, FOMO, and fabricated trust.
