Crypto scammers have masterminded a $163 million heist using AI-driven “trap sites” disguised as gambling and reward platforms. Victims were lured with promises of bonuses but forced into mandatory deposits of about $100, with withdrawals blocked. The scheme, linked to Russian-run affiliate network Gambler Panel, operates across 1,200 domains and uses unique wallets to avoid tracking. Affiliates earn $10 per victim, aided by AI chatbots handling complaints before blocking users. This highlights the surge of AI-enabled fraud, with scam volumes up 456% year-over-year. Experts warn users to avoid “free money” schemes and verify platforms before depositing funds.
