Chinese organized crime networks moved around $16 billion in cryptocurrency during 2025, making them one of the world’s largest illicit crypto actors. The networks relied on stablecoins, underground brokers, online gambling platforms, and money-mule schemes to obscure fund origins. Their operations expanded rapidly, far outpacing growth in illicit flows into regulated crypto exchanges worldwide.
