Venezuelan police have arrested Rosa María González, a key suspect in the Generación Zoe crypto fraud case, in San Cristóbal, Táchira state. The long-running scandal saw tens of thousands of investors defrauded of more than $120 million. Authorities say González fled Argentina after the scheme collapsed in 2022, allegedly absconding with 611 Bitcoin — roughly $56 million at the time. She had been evading police for nearly four years and was reportedly planning a new fraudulent crypto venture while in Venezuela. Diplomatic tensions between Argentina and Venezuela are expected to complicate any attempt to extradite her.
