A recent incident in Mumbai exposed a growing dating-app scam where victims are lured to expensive restaurants by fake matches. In this case, a man met a woman through a dating app and was invited to a café. After ordering just a few items, he was handed a shocking bill of around ₹18,000. When he refused to pay, a police raid revealed the setup was part of a larger fraud network involving multiple people and partner venues. Authorities say similar scams are rising in big cities, where victims are pressured into paying inflated bills after being trapped in pre-planned dates.
