Dallas Mavericks Might Start Using NFT For Ticketing
Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, during a podcast with Gary Vaynerchuk, asserted that he will issue non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as tickets for his team’s games in the upcoming season.
NFTs are unique Digital assets, including various forms of digital art and cultures. They are represented by a code recorded on a blockchain digital ledger that records transactions and allows tracking their ownership and Validity.
In a podcast with Gary Vaynerchuk, Mark Cuban asserted, the question isn’t if the Mavericks are going to use NFTs for issuing game tickets, but when is the main concern. Mark Cuban said, “we will start doing it this coming season, where we’ll issue an NFT after you’ve chosen your Ticketmaster or whatever.”
Mark Cuban expressed that issuing NFTs in such a way, enables them to create an associated value for Mavericks tickets and to keep adding to it.
Furthermore, Cuban claimed that his NFT ticket plan would allow Mavericks fans to buy tickets and resell them, but it will also make it possible for the team to continue making royalties on them.
According to him, the “hard part” of making it rain with NFTs is finding a way out how to move them closer to the origination of the ticket purchase, which will take some time.
Cuban’s plan to boost the Mavericks ticket revenue with NFTs isn’t his first short in the NFT game. He is continuously dropping dimes in the market. Cuban has already made a strategic investment in the NFT data aggregator platform CryptoSlam and started building an online gallery for NFT collectors where they can display their most admired tokens.
Recently, Cuban has also invested in an NFT startup Genius, which has several ongoing NFT projects like music-oriented Gaia, comic-focused Sidekick, cannabis-inspired Cryptobuds, and Bitcoin (BTC) themed Bitcoin Origins.
