Crypto Market Records $500M Liquidations And Falls Below $1T
Bitcoin dropped below $25,000 for the first time since December 2020 and recorded an 18-month low. As expected, altcoins are in a state of freefall as well, with several double-digit losers. The liquidations are up to half a billion again. This resulted in a huge decline in the total Crypto Market Cap, which dipped below $1 trillion today.
In the past seven days, a lot of changes took place in the Cryptocurrency market. Last week Bitcoin tried to break the $32,000 mark as the asset spiked to and beyond that level on a few occasions.
BTC failed to soar and started to fall back again at $30,000. On Friday, the news of US inflation affected the bitcoin price and it dropped from $30,000 to $29,000 in hours.
And today, Bitcoin fell below $25,000 for the first time in 18 months.
The second-largest Cryptocurrency, Ethereum, is also one of the most substantial losers. Last week ETH stood above $2,000, but it’s now down to $1,300. Currently, ETH is below the 2018 ATH.
Other altcoins such as ADA, SOL, DOGE, DOT, TRX, and AVAX recorded massive losses as they are down by around or more than 10% in a day.
The market enhanced volatility and brought mass pain for over-leveraged traders, as the number of wrecked ones is up to 180,000.
Once again, the total liquidations on a daily scale exceed $500 million.
