Bitcoin Price Rally Pulls Indians Back To Crypto World

Crypto investors in India are again flying back to invest in digital assets after the flagship cryptocurrency Bitcoin reaches $50,000.

Indian cryptocurrency exchanges and foreign exchanges that cater to Indian investors had observed an exponential growth in trading volumes and values. A rise of 50% - 100% was noted by the several exchanges, respectively. It is presumed that presently Indians are just not buying Bitcoin but are also hedging their bets and purchasing various crypto assets.

Shivam Thakral, the CEO of BuyUcoin, the cryptocurrency exchange, asserted, “We saw a 3x surge on the buy-side and a 2x increase on the sell-side.” Meanwhile, Nischal Shetty, the CEO of WaxirX, said that “It’s hard to pinpoint only one contributing factor to justify the increase in users over the last few days as there are several factors that are responsible for the same.”

Further, Nischal Shetty emphasized, “Our daily average volume has also increased from an average of $100 million to over $300 million during market peaks. As of the 23rd of August, on average, our 24-hour trading volumes have been around $100 million. However, last week our average trading volume crossed $300 million.”

In April 2021, Bitcoin had hit an all-time high and touched $64,000. However, that was followed by a sell-off at a global stage, where the prices dipped to $30,000 due to the abrupt shutting down of Bitcoin mining operations by Chinese authorities. Despite this, the prices have increased steadily since mid-July.

Several trackers from the crypto industry admitted that besides the old investors have become more active, numerous newcomers are also adopting crypto. The CEO of OKEx.com, Jay Hao, asserted, “As we see a surge in the global adoption of crypto assets, OKEx.com has witnessed new users’ sign-ups increase by almost 50% in the past month. In the past month, we have seen almost a 90% increase in trade volumes.”

Compared to June, in August, BuyUcoin observed a 3x increase in sign-ups.“BuyUcoin has experienced a surge in trade volumes both on the buy and sell-side. Investors are buying in the bull-run and holders have liquidated profits,” added the CEO of BuyUcoin.

Currently, there are 15 million cryptocurrency investors in India holding digital assets worth ₹15,000 crores. Moreover, industry trackers claimed that Indian investors made big investments into digital assets at the time of price dip, which resulted in a bull run. As Bitcoin remains a favourite among investors, various crypto assets like Dogecoin, Ethereum, Ripple, Litecoin, Filecoin, Cardano (ADA), and Polkadot have also attracted Indian investors and exchanges.
