Bitcoin Can Become The Digital Gold of 21st Century, Says Marion Laboure
Marion Laboure, a Macro Strategist at Deutsche Bank, believes Bitcoin has the potential to become the “digital gold” of this century.
According to Marion Laboure, Bitcoin has all the necessary qualities to safeguard when the world is suffering from rising inflation, doubt, and fear due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the governments’ actions. Moreover, the asset could be successfully used as a hedge against growing inflation due to its fixed supply.
The increased control by authorities over the population is another factor that would make Bitcoin attractive to the people. Laboure believes that in such cases, throughout the years, humankind has turned towards assets that were not under the governments’ control, such as gold. With that said, the executive claims BTC could become the “21st-century digital gold.”
As per Laboure, though, BTC’s enhanced fluctuations would not last long. The asset still remains “risky” as of the moment and could be “ultra-volatile in the future”, but just like gold, which has also gone through this issue, BTC would eventually overcome it.
Laboure also praised Ethereum’s merits, by saying that it is more than a Cryptocurrency as it offers multiple applications and use cases such as decentralized finance (DeFi) projects. Furthermore, most of the trendy non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are part of the Ethereum blockchain, and she noted ETH could be the “digital silver.” Finally, Laboure concluded by claiming that no other Cryptocurrency would become stronger than Bitcoin or Ethereum in the next five years.
